Caring for Wool Covers
Caring for your wool covers isn't as intimidating as it may seem. While wool covers do require a gentle approach to care it's actually pretty easy as wool does not need washing after every use.
Wool has natural anti-bacterial properties and does not retain odor or bacteria so it only needs periodic washing (every 2-3 weeks) or when dirty.
Wool naturally contains lanolin which makes it waterproof. You will need to lanolize your wool covers prior to use to ensure a maximum leak-proof performance.
HOW TO LANOLIZE YOUR COVERS
Using pure lanolin (Lansinoh or PureLan work well), take a quarter sized drop and add to hot water or melt in the microwave. Add the mixture to a sink filled with luke-warm water. Stir with your hand to mix. Add the wool cover and let soak for 15-20 minutes. DO NOT RINSE. Gently squeeze out any excess water, be sure you don't wring the cover. Lay cover flat on a dry towel and roll cover inside it to remove any excess water. Unroll towel and leave flat to dry.
Wool does take some time to dry, usually 24 hours so plan in advance.
